Material Options
PET / Aluminum Foil / PE
Absolute barrier: The virtually pinhole-free material of the foil practically stops the oxygen transmission to below 0.05 cm3/(m2-24h-0.1MPa) and brings the water vapor transmission almost to zero. By reducing the moisture gain, softening and fat oxidation gives the best safety against flavor and crispiness.
Complete Light Barrier: Makes sure that all sensitive components like Sichuan pepper and hot oil are not contaminated in terms of color or flavor.
Immunity from Extreme Conditions: No worries of peeling from -20 C° to 60 C°.
Ideal For: High-quality jerky and organic meat products with a shelf life of 1 year+
PET / Metallized PET / PE
High barrier, cost-effective: A nano-thin aluminum layer deposited on PET delivers roughly 70%–80% of the barrier of foil at a noticeably lower cost-the go-to choice for leading jerky brands.
Flex-crack resistant: The metallized layer handles repeated bending and rough transit without developing the microscopic pinholes that can compromise foil.
Metal detector compliant: Does not interfere with in-line metal detection, allowing foreign object inspection to be a smooth process.
Most compatible with: mid-to-premium beef jerky, pork jerky, trail mix combos, where the quality and price must coexist.
PET / Nylon / PE (or with EVOH layer)
Crystal-clear presentation: Consumers see the texture, muscle fiber, and real seasoning particles-building trust and appetite at a glance.
Exceptional physical strength: The nylon layer gives outstanding puncture and burst resistance. Sharp jerky edges or bone fragments won't break through, and drop performance far exceeds a single-layer PE bag.
Transparent high-barrier option: An EVOH layer can be added to achieve up to 80% of foil's oxygen barrier while keeping the bag fully clear-solving the oxidation problem in a transparent pack.
Best for: showcase products like hand-pulled beef shreds, whole-muscle strips, and moist ready-to-eat jerky.
Care and Handling
Storage：Store in a clean warehouse at 15°C-30°C (59°F-86°F) with relative humidity ≤60%. Avoid extreme heat and moisture to prevent delamination or moisture absorption that can affect heat seal performance.
Although foil or metallized pouches help block light, do not expose them to direct sunlight for extended lengths of time in order to avoid exterior ink fading. Ensure that outer cartons are kept intact and free of dust.
Stack cartons according to specified layering guidelines, usually limiting the total number of layers to a maximum of 6 in order to prevent crushing of lower pouches that may misalign zippers or create creases in seal areas.
Follow strict FIFO inventory rotation. Pouch shelf life is normally 12 months from the production date. Over time, slip agent migration in the PE layer may affect heat seal consistency-use within the recommended shelf life.
Pre-Use Inspection: Check cartons for damage or moisture. Confirm pouches are visibly clean, with no foreign matter or insects.
Run sample heat seals by hand to verify strength and appearance match the day's machine conditions. Stop and talk to QC immediately if anything looks off.
Inside the cleanroom, remove only the pouches you need. Reseal unused bags right away or store them in a moisture-proof cabinet to prevent exposure and moisture pickup.
